Popular belief holds that cats are sworn enemies of all things feathered. However, in reality, not every bird needs to fear these whiskered bandits. In this video, we show just how deep a bond can form between, say, a chicken and a cat.
Our purring companions are opportunistic hunters, meaning they seize every chance to catch prey — even if they're not hungry. Besides rodents, they often go after birds, and for fun, they stalk insects, lizards, snakes, snails, and even frogs. Poultry, however, is generally left unharmed, mainly due to its size (they're simply too big for backyard predators). The following example, though, is not just about indifferent coexistence — it shows a loving attachment between two very different species. At least from the cat’s perspective, it happily strolls among the birds, rubbing up against them affectionately.
Thanks to its larger size, a chicken wouldn't be ideal prey even for a stray cat wandering into the yard, but extra care should be taken with chicks. That goes for your own cat too if you let it out into the garden — those fluffy little creatures might just pique its interest.

As we mentioned at the start, cats often hunt snails and frogs. However, in both cases, such encounters can have serious health consequences.
